One of the best collections of mechanical puzzles for sale in the Boston area. They also feature many games. The store is located near Harvard University and is easily accessible by public transportation. As of June, 2006 their web site is under construction, but see their entry in the City Insights directory.
Directions: Take the Red Line to the Harvard Square stop and walk south on Mass. Ave. The store is a few blocks down on your right.

The newest puzzle store in town. Features an impressive inventory including Tavern puzzles, Japanese puzzle boxes, Hanayama cast puzzles, Costa Rican wood carved boxes, jigsaw puzzles from many manufacturers, etc.
Note: Eureka is not directly on Beacon Street.
Directions: Take the Green Line Cleveland Circle (C) train to the Coolidge Corner stop in Brookline. Go to the North side of Beacon Street (which is the side you will be on when you exit the train) and walk west, crossing Harvard Street. When you reach the Bowl and Board store, take a right onto a walkway. Eureka is two thirds of the way down on the right.

The Museum of Science gift shop offers a great selection of games, puzzles, and trinkets with an emphasis on science.

They feature a nice, albeit small, selection of puzzles. They are strong on games. If you plan to go to Provincetown (and it is worth the trip to see this beautiful scenic town), stop in to Puzzle Me This.

Fun place to shop, with a wide selection of board games, game tables, juggling equipment, and some puzzles. It is a short walk from the Waltham stop on the Fitchburg line of the commuter rail, or a short car ride. (Check the schedule if you plan to take the train.) It is a few blocks from The Construction Site.
